This design features a special forces soldier on horseback and pays tribute to the first major offensive of the Afghanistan War.

In response to the September 11, 2001 attacks, the elite U.S. Special Forces unit, Operational Detachment-Alpha 595 (ODA 595 for short), was one of three teams of Special Forces soldiers sent into Afghanistan to join forces with ethnic leaders and warlords to fight their common enemy: the Taliban and its Al Qaeda allies.

The Afghan leaders gave the American's horses to ride to navigate the difficult terrain. In what has been called "the first American cavalry charge of the 21st century" the Special Forces team and their allies rode into the city of Mazar-i-Sharif in Balkh Province which, combined with U.S. Army Special Forces aerial bombardment, resulted in the withdrawal of Taliban forces who had held the city since 1998. The capture of Mazar-i-Sharif was the first major defeat for the Taliban.
